Sustainable Packaging Maple Syrup & Chilli

At John Altman we want to put the most delicious nuts on the market. But we also have a social and sustainable mission; we like to contribute to the planet and the people who live on it. We help foundations that support people who need it for a while. We also look in the chain at how we can reduce our impact on the environment. We are constantly working to make every part of our operation greener.

Packaging

We have chosen bio-based packaging where more than half of the film is made from renewable resources. This packaging uses sugar cane and therefore fossil-free material. With this we will save at least >800 kg of co2 this year. The packaging can be recycled in the PMD waste, because the packaging is mono-plastic.

Make an impact locally

John Altman also wants to make an impact on the social field, for this we have an intensive relationship with the De Regenboog Groep foundation with which we organise monthly events for Amsterdammers who are struggling. We do this in cooperation with the Filmhallen and DeLaMar theatre.

Logistics

30% of our logistics now goes via electric transport and is carried out by a foundation where 95% has a distance to the labour market. For the remaining 70% we are looking at how we can compensate the co2 emissions to be co2-neutral.

FSC paper

The cardboard of the boxes is FSC certified and consists of 71% recycled material.
