Sustainable Sweet & Salty popcorn

At John Altman we want to put the most delicious popcorn on the market. But we also have a social and sustainable mission; we like to contribute to the planet and the people who live on it. We help foundations that support people who need it for a while. We also look in the chain at how we can reduce our impact on the environment. We are constantly working to make every part of our operation greener.

Biologically certified

John Altman's ingredients are certified organic. This means that production takes the environment into account as much as possible. Processors of organic products do not use colouring, aromatic or flavouring agents during processing. For example, when growing maize, corn farmers in the south of France always use natural manure for their land, which provides natural nutrients for the crops. As a result, the natural cycle in organic production is maintained. In addition, crops are often given more time to grow, which often results in better taste and quality.

Quality and shelf life

In order to guarantee the quality and shelf life of our popcorn, the packaging must be completely sealable. The protection of a thin layer of aluminium in the foil is necessary so that the popcorn stays nice and crispy. We continue to closely follow developments in the field of packaging. If there is a better alternative, we will take a serious look at it.

Make an impact locally

John Altman also wants to make an impact on the social field, for this we have an intensive relationship with the De Regenboog Groep foundation with which we organise monthly events for Amsterdammers who are struggling. We do this in cooperation with the Filmhallen and DeLaMar theatre, among others.

Logistics

30% of our logistics now goes via electric transport and is carried out by a foundation where 95% has a distance to the labour market. For the remaining 70% we are looking at how we can compensate the co2 emissions to be co2-neutral.

FSC paper

The cardboard of the boxes is FSC certified and consists of 71% recycled material.
